We chose to base Annie T in St. Lucia for a number of reasons. Primarily we have to consider that half the year in the Caribbean is classified as hurricane season. Imagine the inconvenience a hurricane could cause during your vacation. South of St. Lucia we do not experience this problem. Normally all charters head south and into the Grenadines, sometimes down to Grenada as a one way trip.
A half days sail south of St Lucia takes you to St Vincent, and then approx. thirty miles south to Grenada stretches the most beautiful area of islands called the Grenadines. These encompass such a variety of islands and underwater interest that there is something for everyone. Not as developed as the Virgin Isles, the natural island life continues undisturbed in many places. Some anchorages are so perfect, anchored behind a reef in calm waters with only coral protecting you from nearly three thousand miles of undisturbed Atlantic ocean. Trade winds keep you cool in the evenings. Ashore you have a very good balance of bars and restaurants, catering for those who have brought formal evening wear or if happy hour has taken effect, into less formal local establishments. There are several world-class dive sites which are supported by rendezvous dive boats, and the snorkeling becomes a daily activity jumping off the back of the boat. Bequia Island offers a unique insight into traditional boat building and its historical links with whaling. Mustique has become the premier hideaway of the rich and famous. Tobago Cays - a must for scuba and snorkellers - are becoming a world heritage marine park. Petit St. Vincent offers the most gentle tranquility to be found anywhere. St. Vincent is often overlooked in the rush to get to the Grenadines, missing its rich colonial history and rewarding island tour into its lush interior. Grenada, called the spice island, is an education to those with interests in the plant world and a gentle pace........................
St. Lucia has two International Airports, with daily flights from the US. Flights from Europe arrive several times a week. Inter-island connections are very easy, with flights several times a day, so should you wish to start or finish your charter elsewhere in the region that can easily be facilitated.
A one-way trip greatly increases your time in the Grenadines - if the aim of your holiday is to spend plenty of time relaxing at anchor and exploring the islands, this is the option for you. As mentioned above, flights between the islands are regular and reliable. For a small extra charge you can decide to make your charter a one-way trip - many people like to finish their week's sailing south of St Lucia in Grenada. We are very flexible about this - just contact us to discuss your requirements, and we will help if we can.
